A Declaration of Their Commitment to Remain Artists for Life
For this video, we explored what drives them to keep creating and expressing themselves. While every artist is fueled by different motivations and sources of energy, we wanted to translate those inner impulses into a compelling world that could resonate not only with fellow creators, but with a wider audience as well.
To Keep Creating Is to Stay Alive in Another World
We built the story around a simple premise: in a decaying alternate world, they must continue expressing themselves in order to survive. Bringing together BE:FIRST’s exceptional performance ability with the magical realism of an otherworldly housing complex, we created a surreal narrative in which creativity becomes a means of sustaining life. Through VFX, we developed a fresh and unfamiliar visual language for this world.
Inspiration Drawn from Conversations with the Members
Communication with the members was one of the most important parts of the process in bringing out the full potential of BE:FIRST. We spoke with each member in advance, connecting their personal interests, tastes, and cultural influences with the attitude and presence we wanted them to embody on screen. This allowed their performances to feel natural and authentic, while also giving us the flexibility to shape and adjust the direction on set. We also believe that part of our role as filmmakers is to create an environment where the artists themselves can genuinely enjoy the process, feel comfortable, and become energized by the experience.
